Kyushu Basho

This is the first Sekiwake debut since the promotion of Oho in March 2025 and Aonishiki is the first newly promoted Sekiwake from Ajigawa Stable since the current Shisho founded it. He is the first Ukrainian-born Rikishi to achieve this. Reaching the Sekiwake rank in only 13 tournaments since his professional debut makes him the fastest to do so. He is also the first newly promoted Sekiwake to reach this rank without a single losing record since Akebono, who achieved the rank in May 1991.

Oho returns to the Sekiwake rank he previously held in March this year, after four tournaments. He was also in Sanyaku four tournaments ago.

Takanosho returns to the Komusubi rank he previously held in March 2022. It took him 22 tournaments.

Takayasu remains at Komusubi for the fourth consecutive tournament.

Oshoumi is the first Makuuchi debutant from Naruto Stable since Oshoma, promoted in May last year. He is the 13th Rikishi from Ishikawa Prefecture to achieve this post WWII, following Onosato, who was promoted in January last year.

Nishikifuji returns to Makuuchi. He previously held a rank here in March this year.

Chiyoshoma returns to Makuuchi. He previously held a rank here in July this year.

Himukamaru is the first Rikishi from Kise Stable to be promoted to Juryo since Kinbozan in September 2022. He is the seventh Rikishi from Miyazaki Prefecture post WWII to achieve this, the previous one had been Kotoeko, who was promoted in November 2014.

Fujiryoga is the first Rikishi from Fujishima Stable to make his Juryo debut since Fujiseiun in May 2023. He is the 27th Rikishi post WWII from Aichi Prefecture to achieve this, the previous one was Kaisho, promoted in September 2019. Fujiryo is the 8th former student of Takushoku University to make his Juryo debut, the previous one was Asahakuryu, promoted in the previous tournament.

Kitanowaka returns to Juryo. He previously held a rank here in March this year.

Wakanosho returns to Juryo. He previously held a rank here in May this year.
